THE RODSKILEGACY FOUNDATION

Developing areas of programming

Eight areas. One purpose: give a young person something that lasts.

These are the program areas The Rodski Legacy Foundation is developing in Mobile, Alabama. Each one is funded by the Foundational Startup Capital Campaign.

Mentoring & Personal Development

01 · Mentoring & Personal Development

Mentoring & Personal Development

Consistent, caring adults who show up — and stay.

Young people thrive when someone steady is in their corner. Our mentoring program pairs youth with vetted, caring adults who build real relationships over time — setting goals together, celebrating progress, and helping a young person see a future bigger than their current circumstances. Alongside mentoring, we work on the personal-development basics that carry into every area of life: confidence, communication, responsibility and self-respect.

Broadcast University & Media Education

02 · Broadcast University & Media Education

Broadcast University & Media Education

Hands-on training in radio, podcasting and media production.

Broadcast University gives young people real time behind the microphone, on the board and in the edit. Students learn how to research a topic, prepare a show, speak with clarity, conduct an interview and produce content that holds an audience. These are marketable skills, and they are also confidence skills — there is nothing quite like finding your voice and hearing it come back to you as something worth listening to.

Tutoring & Educational Support

03 · Tutoring & Educational Support

Tutoring & Educational Support

Academic help that meets students where they actually are.

Every student who falls behind has a specific reason why, and it usually is not effort. Our tutoring and educational support works to find that reason and address it with patient, one-on-one and small-group help. We support reading, writing and math foundations, help with homework and study habits, and connect families to the school resources their children are entitled to. The goal is simple: a young person who believes they can learn, because they have proof.

Workforce & Career Development

04 · Workforce & Career Development

Workforce & Career Development

Practical skills, career exposure and a real path to earning.

We introduce young people to the trades, the professions and the businesses that exist in their own city, and then we help them build the practical skills to enter them. That includes interview preparation, résumé and application help, workplace expectations, financial basics, and hands-on exposure to real work environments. Where we can, we connect participants to employers and programs willing to give a young person their first real opportunity.

Financial Literacy & Life Skills

05 · Financial Literacy & Life Skills

Financial Literacy & Life Skills

Money, credit and life decisions taught in plain language.

Too many young adults learn about credit, banking and debt only after a mistake has already been made. This program teaches the fundamentals early and in plain language: how to budget, how credit actually works, how to open and use an account responsibly, what debt really costs, and how to set a financial goal and reach it. We pair financial literacy with the day-to-day life skills that help a young person manage independence well.

Youth Enrichment

06 · Youth Enrichment

Youth Enrichment

Positive experiences, healthy activity and room to just be a kid.

Not every part of growing up needs to be a lesson. Youth enrichment gives participants positive experiences — sports, recreation, arts, outings and community events — in safe, supervised environments with caring adults. These experiences build friendships, teamwork, physical health and belonging, and they give young people something constructive to be part of rather than something destructive to fall into.

Transportation & Participation Support

07 · Transportation & Participation Support

Transportation & Participation Support

Removing the barrier that keeps young people from showing up.

The most common reason a young person misses a program is not a lack of interest — it is a lack of a ride. Transportation and participation support exists to close that gap, so that a child is not excluded from an opportunity because of where they live or whether a parent can leave work to drive them. We coordinate rides to programs, events and appointments, and we help cover the participation costs that quietly keep families out.

Mental-Health Resource Connections

08 · Mental-Health Resource Connections

Mental-Health Resource Connections

Helping families find qualified care — and follow through on it.

Young people carry more than most adults realize. This area of our work connects youth and their families with licensed, qualified mental-health providers and community resources, helps them understand what is available, and supports them in actually getting to the first appointment. We are not a clinical provider. Our role is connection and follow-through, so that a family looking for help does not have to find it alone.

These programs start when the campaign does.

Funding is what moves each of these areas from a plan into a room with young people in it. You can put it there.
