Our story
The name on the door is a person, not a brand.
The Rodski Legacy Foundation was founded in 2026 by Rodney “DJ Rodski” Toomer, a name well known in Mobile’s entertainment and community circles. The foundation exists to do something specific with that reach: open doors for young people who are usually the last to be invited through them.
The organization is youth-centered by design. Every program area — from mentoring to broadcast training to workforce readiness — is built around one question: does this give a young person something they can actually use to move forward?
The foundation is in its founding year, which means the honest answer about programming is that it is being built right now. The Foundational Startup Capital Campaign is what turns the plan into the first year of real programming in Mobile.

To connect young people with supportive guidance, educational and personal-development resources, positive experiences, practical skills, trusted adult relationships, and pathways toward brighter futures.
The values behind the work
Presence over promises
A young person does not need another slogan. They need an adult who shows up again next week. We build programs around consistency, because consistency is what actually changes a life.
Opportunity that is reachable
A program a child cannot get to is a program that does not exist for them. We treat transportation, timing and cost as part of the design, not as someone else’s problem.
Skills, not sympathy
We teach things a young person can use — how to speak, how to work, how to manage money, how to interview. Respect is giving someone something real to stand on.
The whole family
Young people do not grow up in isolation. When we support a student we support the household around them, because that is how the change holds.

Our long-term vision is a Mobile where a young person’s zip code does not decide how far they get — where mentoring, media training, tutoring, career readiness and financial literacy are not rare opportunities but ordinary ones, and where the foundation becomes a lasting institution that outlives all of us.
